The Dutch menu’s headline item is the McKroket, a burger whose patty is a breaded, deep-fried croquette of beef ragout, served with a mustard-style sauce. It’s the snack-bar broodje kroket in McDonald’s form. Around it you’ll find fritessaus and a rack of other fries sauces, meatless twins of both McChickens, the Big Tasty, wholegrain pancakes with stroop and McFlurries made with Maltesers or peanut M&M’s.
Most of what makes this board Dutch comes from the snackbar, the fry shop where a kroket on a roll and a paper cone of fries with sauce are the standard order. McDonald’s Nederland folds that habit into its regular menu. The McKroket sits among the burgers, the fries go by Franse Frietjes, and the sauce list carries both fritessaus and mayonnaise, which to a Dutch customer are two different things. Around the local items is the familiar European core of Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, McCrispy and Filet-O-Fish. The Dutch site also groups burgers under a gluten-free heading (glutenvrije burgers) and runs a voordeelmenu for value deals. Chicken and meatless

Fries, sauces and sides
Fries in the Netherlands come with sauce as a matter of course, and the default is fritessaus, a mayonnaise-style sauce with less oil and a slightly sweeter taste. McDonald’s lists it beside regular mayonaise, kerriesaus (curry), mosterdsaus (mustard), zoetzure (sweet and sour), barbecue and chili, plus a limited Cajun saus.

Breakfast
The morning menu has an Egg McMuffin, a McMuffin Double Egg & Bacon, a McMuffin Beef & Egg and a croissant. The local detail is the pancakes: wholegrain (volkoren), served with stroop, the Dutch pancake syrup, plus butter and strawberry spread. The menu uses the English word pancakes, which in Dutch usually means the small, thick American style; a Dutch pannenkoek is thin and plate-sized.
