The short answer

McDonald’s Sweden is running its own version of Canada’s World Menu Heist. The World Menu Mission says it “stole” a few favorites for a limited time: Canada’s Maple & BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder, Japan’s Garlic & Black Pepper McNuggets and a crunchy caramel and chocolate pretzel McFlurry from Malaysia. The permanent menu is local in its own right, with El Maco in beef, chicken and lakto-ovo veggie versions, the McFeast (in fish too), a whole Tasty line, McToast toasted sandwiches at breakfast and a gluten-free bun.

Canada’s World Menu Heist turned importing other countries’ menu items into a recurring event, and Sweden has borrowed the format under a new name. The overlap between the two lineups is the garlic and black pepper McNuggets, which both countries are selling this fall. Outside the Mission, the Swedish board carries names you won’t find on a US menu: El Maco, the McFeast, the Tasty family and the McToast. World Menu Mission: running now

The Swedish page describes the Mission as favorites taken from McDonald’s menus around the world for a limited time, and it names the origin of three of them. The McCrispy Hot Honey, the Cheeseburger McShaker Fries, the Szechuan dip and a Green Crush x Sprite Zero (in the drinks table) are part of the same lineup, with no country attached.

The same nugget flavor is on in Canada’s Heist and on the UK menu this fall. Sweden’s page is the one that credits it to Japan.

Burgers

El Maco is the name to know. The Swedish menu files it as a Nordic classic, and it’s the only burger here sold in three versions (beef, chicken and lakto-ovo vegetarian), with a fries seasoning named after it on top. The McFeast and the Tasty family are the other Swedish-board names a US visitor won’t recognize.

Sweden’s non-beef menu is wide. El Maco and the Tasty both come in chicken, the McFeast comes in fish, and vegetarians get a lakto-ovo El Maco, Veggie Nuggets and two McVeggies.
