The short answer

The Chinese burger board has the McSpicy; this page has everything around it, led by the item Americans petition for: the taro pie (香芋派), purple, molten and permanent. Around it: spicy McWings and the new thin-crisp V-wings, a night-market-style giant chicken cutlet whose name is literally “a chicken cutlet THAT big,” sundaes under their Cantonese-derived name, and a fountain with lemon teas the US never sees. McCafé runs as its own counter brand with a separate menu of serious coffee at civilian prices.

Where’s the coffee?

McCafé (麦咖啡) operates as its own sub-brand in China, with dedicated counters in thousands of stores and a standalone menu of flat whites, lattes and seasonal specials priced to undercut the cafe chains; it markets itself as aggressively as the restaurant does. Its menu lives apart from the food board, which is why it isn’t in the tables above; a dedicated McCafé China page is on our list.

FAQ

What is the McDonald’s taro pie?

香芋派: a fried pie filled with molten purple taro, permanent on China’s menu (and Hawaii’s, seasonally) while mainland America gets none. Sweet, silky, and the first thing to order after the McSpicy.

Does McDonald’s China have chicken wings?

Yes: the permanent Spicy McWings (麦辣鸡翅) plus the newer thin-crisp V-Wings, and a giant night-market-style cutlet called 那么大鸡排 (“a cutlet THAT big”).

What drinks does McDonald’s China have that the US doesn’t?

Fountain lemon black tea, Schweppes +C vitamin lemon soda, the McSplash fruit line, hot soy milk and Ceylon tea. The cola trio is the same; everything around it is localized.

Is there McCafé in China?

Extensively — thousands of dedicated counters with their own coffee menu, run as a sub-brand with separate pricing and promotions. It’s arguably McDonald’s most successful McCafé market anywhere.
